An evening on a Finnish lakeside – a peaceful cruise on one of Finland’s largest and most beautiful lakes with a barbeque ashore will also be included in the programme. One night is scheduled free to allow the participants to have their own group meetings with colleagues, or just to enjoy the activities provided in the city. An exquisite opportunity to experience a traditional Finnish sauna will also be offered to the most enthusiastic. ISBE congresses traditionally include an ultimate soccer tournament, and this tradition will be continued. A Midnight Sun Tournament, the final taking place towards midnight, will be arranged on Wednesday at the Harju Stadium, in the centre of Jyväskylä. Finland is an exotic destination for accompanying persons to enjoy culture, sports and nature. In Jyväskylä, one could, e.g., learn about the works and life of Alvar Aalto, who is regarded as one of the top five architects in the world, or take a canoe trip on one of the many lakes. Accompanying persons are also invited to join the Congress social programme in the evenings: additional tickets can be booked in advance. Furthermore,
depending on the interest shown by the congress participants, the organisers
are ready to offer post-congress tours to Finnish Lapland, St.Petersburg,
Russia or to Tallinn, Estonia, or just a one-day-tour of the Jyväskylä
area. If you are a music lover, you might want to take the opportunity
and visit the annual Savonlinna
Opera Festival 9 July – 7 August held in a magnificent fortress
castle in Eastern Finland. |
